Melina
The species of Melina is called “Gmelina Arborea.” It is a cousin to the teak family, and like teak, it is farm grown in Costa Rica.
Melina is consistently white in color with a tight grain pattern like mahogany. In fact, it is an excellent substitute of mahogany, as well as Spanish cedar, poplar, ramin, and ash.
Even though Melina has the appearance of mahogany, it is extremely stable and highly resistant to insects. Melina is excellent for solid wood panels, kitchen cabinets, bookshelves, bars, and plantation shutters. It has excellent properties for stain grade moldings. It can be stained any color, it is easy to mold, it sands like glass and can be nailed without splitting or cracking.
Our principal Melina products include solid melina interior doors, kitchen cabinets, and stain-grade moldings.
