These are the men and women who make up the core team at Atromitos of Costa Rica.

Richard Sims 
Operations Manager

From Ft. Worth, Texas, Richard Sims has been working in the wood sector in Latin America for more than 20 years.  He has worked for the World Bank researching the forestry industry.  He is a member of the eco-friendly Costa Rican Forestry Chamber.  Richard currently lives most of the year in San José, Costa Rica.

Project Consultant

Greg, from British Columbia, Canada, has been involved in the forest industry since childhood.  He is a Mechanical Engineering Technologist with extensive hands-on knowledge of mechanical, milling harvesting techniques.  He comes with extensive practical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems related to sawmills.

José Gallegos
Production Manager, Alajuela, Costa Rica

José was born in Costa Rica and educated with a university degree in mathematics.  He taught mathematics at the University of Costa Rica.  Later, he has worked in every corner of the wood business:  Logging, soils, import and export, etc.

Michael Miller
Director, Sales & Marketing

A native of Pennsylvania, Michael has a degree in economics, and over 40 years of experience in sales and marketing.  He is a Vietnam Veteran and the author of "The Real San José" the first and only guide book about Downtown San José, Costa Rica. Michael lives in San José and in Naples, Florida.

Production Manager

Carlos runs the Atromitos operations in the southern part of Costa Rica.  He overseas the silviculture activities of the tree farms, the harvesting and the initial cutting and transportation of the logs

Johnathan Larios
Installation Manager

Johnathan, a native of San Jose, Costa Rica, has a wide background in construction and building maintenance.  He has expertise as a  carpenter, plumber, and electrician.  In recent years Johnathan has developed a near artistic skill as a layer of Atromitos' solid teak floor panels.  He is a much sought-after as an installer of teak and other tropical hardwoods.

Lourdes Durán
Director of Logistics

Costa Rican Lourdes Durán, a business administrator and customs agent with more than 22 years of experience in international trade.  Lourdes overseas the shipment of containers from containers from Costa Rica to the U. S., Canada and other countries.

Sales Manager, Eastern USA

A native of Texas, Don Brock is now based in Florida.  With a career in sales and business development spanning many decades, he now works closely with builders and designers to ensure the right tropical woods are used for each project.  Don has a reputation for integrity and customer service as well as a droll sense of humor.

President

Ray Kurzon, of Plano, Texas has held a variety of senior management positions including President and CEO of K.L.S. Enviro Resources,  Mr. Kurzon is a widely recognized expert on eco-friendly mining techniques in the Southwestern USA.  He is currently the president of Atromitos Holdings, LLC.
