Who We Are
Atromitos of Costa Rica is a leading supplier of quality tropical hardwoods. We provide several different kinds of woods, including teak, melina, black walnut, and cypress. We supply wood products to distributors, to builders, and to home-owners in the international markets, as well as locally in Costa Rica.
Our most popular product is solid teak tongue-and-groove floor planks. These are exceptionally high quality, precision-cut panels that are prized by discriminating homeowners who appreciate the beauty and the lasting value of teak floors.
Atromitos of Costa Rica also supplies solid teak boards for docks and decks, as well as solid teak posts. In addition, we provide specialty items such as custom teak entry doors, teak kitchen islands and teak staircase treads; as well as solid melina interior doors, melina moldings, and cypress fencing.
How We Are Different
Atromitos of Costa Rica controls the entire process of creating quality hardwood products. We own teak farms in different parts of Costa Rica. In addition, we have secured the rights to harvest trees on other properties. Our crews sustainably harvest the trees as they mature. Typically, we mill 2 to 4 tractor-trailer loads of teak logs per week.
The logs are taken to one of our mills, where they are cut into cants, and kiln dried. The cants are inspected for quality, and the finest ones are selected to be used to create our top-of-the-line products. Then our skilled craftsmen, using precision tools, cut them into finished products that are ready for the most demanding professionals and home-owners.

Atromitos of Costa Rica is not a bunch of guys who decided to buy a few acres of teak. Our people are experienced woodsmen (and women). They are from the United States, from Canada, and from Costa Rica. They know wood. They know the best production techniques. And they know quality.

A Word About the Environment
Atromitos of Costa Rica is keenly aware of the importance and the fragility of our rainforests. All of our wood products are farm grown. Some of it has been planted on property that was once used as pasture land, thus reestablishing it as an area where birds and other forest animals can thrive. And of course, trees are nature's most efficient way to absorb carbon from the atmosphere.
The mature trees are selectively cut once they are big enough to take to market. The land is never clear-cut, and it is never stripped and burned as is often the case (with tragic results) in some other parts of the world. Costa Rica's rainforests are not impacted by our activity.
We view our trees as an important renewable resource. They are replanted after they are harvested. And in the case of teak, the trees naturally regenerate by sending up shoots immediately after harvesting.

The word “Atromitos” is from the Greek, meaning fearless or undaunted. We are Atromitos of Costa Rica.
